On the other hand, society has been more accepting than they used to towards the "abnormal" subjects, and have began to recognise success in fields other than medicine and law. Jack Neo being mentioned by the PM, Singapore Dreaming, Royston Tan at Cannes, Singapore Sports School, Remy Ong, Stefinie Sun, Kit Chan, Tanya Chua, Melvyn Tan(the pianist), are all being highlighted as being the pride of Singapore.(though some are controversial as well) So although there will still be parents who restrict their offspring to taking certain paths, it is likely that the trend of liberalisation will continue, and giving all students the opportunity to take up the non-conformist subjects, not just students who can't excel in "normal" subjects, would certainly help to erase the lines of the current classifications.
